I used to be a firm believer in a person's word is their bond. Like if I say that I will have your back regardless then that is what I mean. Not saying that if you do something wrong then I won't tell you that behind closed doors, because I will, but to everyone else they will only see and know our strong bond. This to me is Loyalty. Many will have their own definition, but I believe it all comes from the same root.
People are so quick to ask for and want someone to be loyal to them, whether in a friendship, marriage, or a business partnership, but at what cost are they willing to return the favor?
If I sign a contract to be a part of your company, then that is considered a pledge of loyalty, right? Meaning that whatever goes on behind those walls of a business setting...should stay behind them and regardless of what I may or may not agree with...things should remain there, right?
Because the words that I placed on that piece of paper that forms my name is bond...or is it?
Do we overlook or take for granted the power and meaning of words...do we try to make a "loop hole" out of something we placed our name on, such as a binding document?
My answer is Yes! Reason being...if everyone stood behind "My word is bond"...then we wouldn't have as many court tv shows broadcasting right now...where their main arguments are someone owns them money and haven't paid them back as planned...Or someone signed an agreement for something and services weren't rendered...or divorce filings...and late or absent child support payments...this list can go on.
So you tell me...Is Your Word Your Bond?
